Watkins products are manufactured in Winona, Minnesota. We source our spices and herbs from around the world to ensure the highest quality of organic flavor.
At The Watkins Company we know that people today are following a variety of diets, each with its specific approach and suggested foods. Our spice and extract products are key ingredients that fit into a variety of food and beverages that are a part of these diets. All of our spices and extracts have less than 1 gram of fat and 1 gram or less of carbohydrates per serving. It does vary on a product by product basis with many having less than 1 gram or even zero grams of fats and/or carbohydrates. Our spices are a great accompaniment to meats and vegetables to add flavor and variety. Our extracts make baked goods, beverages and smoothies taste great. For more information about food choices and different dietary requirements we suggest you contact a registered dietician or your physician.
Watkins takes great pride ensuring we offer the freshest cinnamon and pepper. We have partnered with suppliers that provide the highest quality of cinnamon and pepper that is freshly ground just before filling. We do this to ensure that you and your customers receive the freshest product with optimal flavor.
If your products do arrive frozen, this will not harm the product. Please let the item thaw in room temperature for 48 hours. Depending on the item, it may need to be shaken to appear in normal consistency.
We are committed to making products that are safe and environmentally friendly. All of our packaging is comprised of BPA-free plastics, and we do not source packaging that may contain BPA. Watkins plastic bottles are also recyclable, and we are committed to using minimal packaging made from environmentally-friendly
According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), a "Best If Used By (or Before)" indicates when you will enjoy the best flavor and quality. It is not a purchase-by or safety-related date.
Sugarcane ethanol is used in Watkins extracts.
Extracts – For Watkins, there are two types of extracts, Pure and Blends.
- Pure Extracts are products where the Flavor comes from an extracting process of the named extract. The extracting process can take on a variety of methods like cold pressing.
- Extracts are products where the taste comes from a combination of extracts and natural flavors. The blend is used to ensure the highest quality flavor.
- Flavorings – For Watkins, flavors are products where the flavor comes from natural flavors. The reason that there are flavors instead of all extracts is that some flavors are a complicated blend that do not exist in nature in a pure state. An example of this would be our Bubble Gum flavor, the taste of Bubble Gum comes from a combination of natural flavors.
- Emulsions - Emulsions are flavors where the base of the formula is water or oil where traditional extracts the base is alcohol. Extracts and flavors are multi-functional and can work in a variety of recipes and applications where emulsions tend to only work well in batters. Watkins does not offer any emulsions as we have found extracts do a superior job of delivering consistent high quality flavors.
Watkins does not conduct or commission any animal testing in the safety assessments of our ingredients, formulations, finished products or any new product formulations.

The term "gluten" refers to proteins that occur naturally in wheat, rye, barley and cross-bred hybrids of these grains. Products that do not contain these grains or derivatives of these grains are naturally gluten-free. Most Watkins products, including gourmet spices, extracts, pepper and grinders are free of these grains, therefore are naturally gluten-free.

Watkins is committed to producing safe, high quality products and adheres to the principles and practices put forth by the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI), including the requisite HACCP program, maintaining a Level II certification. We follow rigorous cleaning routines designed to eliminate the risk of cross contamination. These routines are part of our total commitment to good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
Some Watkins products have been certified Kosher by officials of the Jewish faith. The specific symbol appearing on our products represents the organization that has certified our products -- the Upper Midwest Kashrut Association

Ordering Process & Management
The Watkins Company is still operational; however, we are experiencing delayed ship times.

Since it is our priority to process your order in a timely manner, once the order is placed, we are unable to cancel the order. Please refer to our Returns & Exchanges section or contact us by calling 1-800-243-9423 for return options.
For timely processing, all orders are immediately sent to our shipping department. Therefore, we cannot change an order once it had been placed. This includes products, product quantities, addresses and payment options.
A full listing of our current products can be found online at www.Watkins1868.com. If the product you are looking for cannot be found, this means the product was discontinued. There are various factors that may contribute to the reason we discontinue a product, such as low sales or a component no longer available.
Unfortunately, Watkins does not take backorders on out of stock items. You may add the item to your “Wish List”, so you can monitor when the item becomes available again.
Yes. After submitting your order, you will see a Purchase Confirmation screen, which you may want to print for your records. You also will receive an email confirmation with information on how to track delivery of your package.
