Ingredients
Watkins Southern Beaten Biscuits – From blue Watkins Cookbook, published in June 1936
- 2 cups/500 mL unbleached flour
- 1/2 tsp/2.5 mL salt from Watkins Organic Mediterranean Sea Salt Grinder
- 4 tbsp/60 mL unsalted butter – softened
- 1/2 cup/125 mL ice water
- 1/4 cup/60 mL milk
Short Cut: If you are short on time, you can use pre-made refrigerated biscuit dough for this recipe.
Watkins Garlic Herb Butter
- Watkins Garlic Herb Butter
- 8 tbsp/125 mL unsalted butter- melted
- 1 tsp/5 mL Watkins Organic Garlic Powder
- 2 tsp/10 mL Watkins Organic Oregano
- 4 tbsp/60 mL Watkins Organic Parsley
- 1 tsp/5 mL Watkins Organic Black Pepper
- 1 tsp/5 mL of salt from Watkins Organic Mediterranean Sea Salt Grinder
- Optional Topping: 1/4 cup/60 mL finely shredded parmesan cheese

Directions
Watkins Southern Beaten Biscuits
In a large bowl or electric mixer – combine butter, milk and salt. Beat until blended. Stir in ice water to mixture until blended. Slowly add in flour until combined. Beat batter until stiff.
Watkins Garlic Herb Butter
In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter and Watkins Organic Spices and salt.
Assembly and Baking
Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. Grease loaf pan – 8 x 4-inch/20 x 10-cm.
Roll out dough until 1/2-inch / 1.25-cm thick. Cut dough into 1-inch / 2.5-cm pieces. Using a spoon, place each piece of dough into the melted Watkins Garlic Herb Butter. Coat each dough piece with Watkins Garlic Herb Butter and place in greased loaf pan. Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 5 minutes. Remove from loaf pan. Let cool for 5-10 minutes. Remove from pan and serve warm.
Optional: Sprinkle top of bread with finely shredded Parmesan cheese before serving.
Makes 1 loaf.
